BAF 3M - Accounting

BAF3M is an introductory course to fundamental accounting procedures.  Students will be introduced to the world of accounting by looking at accounting procedures for service and merchandising businesses.  The majority of work is completed on computer. Accounting foundations are reinforced with our annual Monopoly tournament -- definitely the highlight of the semester.  If you are looking at pursuing a career in business or taking business in university or college, then this is the course for you !

BMX 3E - Marketing - workplace

BMI 3C - Sport and Event Marketing - college

CLU 3M - Law - university/ college

The grade 11 law focuses on the Canadian legal system -  historical influences, human rights and freedoms, civil law (tort, contract and family law) with an emphasis on criminal law (arrest/ evidence/ trial/ sentencing). BOH 4M - Business Leadership

How to lead and motivate others - concepts that are relevant to sport, academics as well as the workplace. Presenting skills are honed and team building is emphasized throughout this course with many activities that include, in my humble opinion, the greatest field trip ever.

BAT 4M - Accounting - gr. 11 Accounting is a pre-requisite

The advanced accounting course builds on the fundamentals learned in Grade 11.  Students will look at different financial statements for different types of businesses.  An emphasis is placed on interpreting the financial statements and how to use the information to make sound business decisions.  Students look at the impact of ethics on business decisions.  The majority of the course is completed on the computer, using Excel. Yes !!!  Due to an unprecedented demand, Economics will be offered at Sherwood in 2015/ 2016. For a brief course description I will go to that trustworthy web based resource brainyquote.com

"Economics is everywhere, and understanding economics can help you make better decisions and lead a happier life."

***It's worth mentioning that Economics is a mandatory first year course for any post-secondary business program I've ever heard of.
